I'm Jorge Paricio
I grew up in a family of artists. My earliest memories growing up are of visiting the family's painting studio, smelling ink, feeling the brushes, and playing with color. I started painting very early on, just because that is what we did at home. But I fell in love with the profession very slowly, as I got to understand more what it took to capture a fleeting moment.
I shave always loved watercolors and oils, and I find joy in the results that I get from the two mediums. Watercolors never come just like I plan them, despite all the preparation in setting up the paper, working with the first lines with pencil, and wetting the color trays. I like the immediate results and the degree of unexpected results when colors start to mix against the white background. I prefer to paint open marine landscapes, quick nature studies, and houses big, small and extra small.
My experience with oil painting is quite different. I usually do not like working with a white canvas, and I work expeditiously at getting my first strokes to cover it. Colors mix more slowly and brushes need to be cleaned more thoroughly because the palette has a tendency of getting too muddy. I prefer to paint bouquets of flowers in this medium, fruits and other home compositions, open landscapes and wetlands around the eastern coast, and the Rocky Mountains when I get to visit Colorado and Montana.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, a Master's degree in Industrial Design and a Ph.D. in Fine Arts.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
